Fools Folly
Seriously Koooky Improvisations
Fools Folly is a improvisational rock group that mixes the freedom of jazz with the adventurousness of late 20th century classical composition. Rather than relying on the age-old band model, Fools Folly exists as more of a “moment in time” with the players constantly shifting and evolving.
Dave invites different musicians to join him in various configurations to stretch their creative wings and play the music they want to–not what’s expected of them by audiences seeking the same ol same ol.
“Like a movie star who chooses to do an indie film with a limited budget and limited audience because it is fun, Fools Folly provides a chance to stretch out and play what we like, except of course, we aren’t famous.” says Dave, “This, I believe, this is partly the reason for the name. Certainly, to some it may appear foolish to freely improvise a style of music that, seemingly, has quite limited audience and for very little financial reward.”
Foolish, maybe, but it rocks!
Julie Black
Blues, Jazz, Rock, Soul & Swing
Dave has been performing and recording with Julie Black for the past four years. Now, Dave will still to this day proclaim he does not play BLUES, but he has definitely left his mark on the Blues world as Julie’s right hand man.
Julie Black has become an international sensation in the Blues world with her albums being sold in the US and Japan and her tunes being played world wide on XM/Sirius Radio and countless indie stations from Australia to Finland.
With Julie’s classic Blues vocal style, the monster key man Michael Johnn, rat-a-tat-tat Frankie Timpanelli on drums and the bump and grind bass of Father Bill Spicuglia, Dave brings a sexy jazzy balance to the party. One minute it’s all hot and heavy, the next, crunchy, blow your hair back rock n’ roll is getting your booty up and jumpin’. A Julie Black performance is like a roller coaster ride you never want to stop.
